Bad Guitar Studio’s highly anticipated 5v5 hero shooter, FragPunk, faced an unexpected hurdle just days before its scheduled release. While the PC version is set to launch on March 6, 2025, the console versions for PlayStation and Xbox have been delayed indefinitely due to unforeseen technical difficulties encountered during the certification process.
Developer’s Statement on the Delay
In an announcement on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the development team addressed the situation:
“During the console compliance testing process, we encountered unexpected technical challenges in optimization and adaptation. Rather than rushing the console release and providing a potentially poor user experience, we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch of the console versions to ensure that players receive a comparable experience to those on PC.”
Compensation for Console Players
Understanding the disappointment this may cause, Bad Guitar Studio has outlined compensation measures for console players:
-
Pre-Order Refunds: Players who pre-ordered the console bundle will receive automatic refunds through their respective console marketplaces.
-
In-Game Currency Bonus: Upon the eventual console release, pre-order customers will be granted $10 worth of in-game currency.
-
Season 1 Rewards: From its commencement until the console launch, all console players will receive rewards equivalent to those available during Season 1.
PC Version Launches as Planned
Despite the console delay, FragPunk’s PC version remains on track for its March 6 release. Players eager to experience the game’s dynamic 5v5 battles and innovative “Shard Cards” system can access it via Steam starting tomorrow.
The development team has not provided a new release date for the console versions but assures fans that efforts are underway to resolve the technical issues promptly. They emphasize their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience across all platforms.
