Review of the game Dark Age of Camelot

For many, England is presented as an island with constant rains, surrounded by the English Channel and filled with men in checkered kilts. However, Mythic Entertainment sees this state in a slightly different way. The developers of this studio have turned England into a fantasy state with many fairy tale characters. At the same time, they maintained some historical accuracy, since the game Dark Age of Camelot describes the events that unfolded after the death of King Arthur. You can read about this rather interesting project on the MMOTOP.ORG website.

The structure of the game world

The game world in Dark Age of Camelot includes three fantasy kingdoms, namely Camelot, Midgard and Ibernia. Each of these kingdoms is distinguished by its historical aspects and geographical location. Camelot is a state founded by King Arthur. Here the power is in the hands of the knights of the round table. Midgard is a mythical land where all the characters are taken from Scandinavian Viking legends, as well as myths about trolls, dwarfs and kobolds. Ibernia is a country of the Irish and Celts, where there are also many fantasy elements.

Classic RPG

Dark Age of Camelot is a typical RPG game without any combination. It features a fairly simple and understandable role-playing system, where there are characters, classes, levels of development, as well as peaceful professions and magic. To create a hero, you can choose one of seven races, individual for each kingdom. The result is more than two dozen different combinations of races and classes. At the same time, each race has its own peculiarity. This may be innate increased intelligence, strength, or the presence of any interesting skills.

Classes

Classes in Dark Age of Camelot are also divided in a very familiar way. For example, there are traditional "tanks" here, which, however, cannot inflict particularly significant damage. True, they can control hordes of monsters. This class is divided into two subclasses - heavy and light "tanks". The heavy ones include Warrior, Hero and Armsman, who use a massive two-handed sword in battle and have heavy armor. As for light tanks, this includes Blademaster, Mercenary, Savage and Berserker. These warriors wield different types of weapons and can deal more damage to enemies. At the same time, they have lighter armor compared to the previous subclass.

The most dangerous and harmful are mages, which can cause huge damage even at long distances. At the same time, they are easy to destroy in close combat. There are 13 varieties of magical characters in Dark Age of Camelot, which is a pretty good indicator. For example, in the same Lineage II, there are only three dozen classes in total. Dark Age of Camelot also offers players rather original Stealth classes, which are distinguished by invisibility, which gives them the opportunity to choose who and when to attack. In addition to the traditional archers and assassins, this class also includes a hybrid class of minstrels. He can become a stealth hero in some situations. There are also healers in the game who can heal teammates. In total, Dark Age of Camelot offers five exclusively healing characters. Although, there are many hybrid classes that are able to heal their allies and fight.

Race Wars

The basis of the game are racial battles in which one kingdom fights against another. Such battles are usually held in the border areas. In addition to characters, they use heavy siege weapons that are needed to storm castles. Therefore, Dark Age of Camelot is a project where PvP team battles play a key role. Given the huge number of classes and subclasses, players are given a lot of room for tactical fantasy. Therefore, despite the fact that the game has been around for a long time, it continues to develop and become more and more popular. This is evidenced by the constant updates of the project and the opening of new servers.
