SpaceCorps overview
SpaceCorps is a space-based MMO where players pilot ships across a persistent online world divided into company home sectors and danger zones. The core loop involves flying, targeting, and engaging in both PvE alien hunts and PvP combat against other pilots. Players enlist with one of three companies—Mars, Terra, or Galactic—each controlling their own home sectors, with four Danger Sectors separating them and a black hole at the center of the outermost zone.
Players build and customize their ships by fitting lasers, shields, engines, and drones, maintaining two configurations per ship that can be swapped mid-flight. A crafting system in the Assembly allows gear creation, which is then upgraded tier by tier in the Forge. The Skylab, an orbital base, produces resources while the player is offline. Seasons last about a month and end with a wipe that removes most ships and items, though credits, Thulium, level, Skylab, fleet membership, and permanent boosts carry over.
The game supports fleet play with ranks and a shared bank, cooperative groups of up to five pilots from any company, and a friend invitation system that rewards both parties. Built on Space3d, a custom engine written in Rust on top of wgpu, the game currently runs on Windows with other platforms planned. The interface is available in twelve languages, though item and alien names remain in English for now.
