Battlegrounds is heading into a busy seventh year of game support and the transition to Unreal Engine 5

Krafton has shared plans for the seventh year of support for the battle royale PUBG: Battlegrounds. The game will feature many innovations, fixes of old problems and a transition to a new version of the engine.

In April, the game will receive the first version with destructible objects. Players will be able to destroy some buildings and act more strategically and dynamically. Over time, this functionality will be improved and expanded, and game cards will receive updates to maintain balance and implement new features. The functionality of the cards will also be affected by various collaborations, seasons and events. A number of vehicles from popular brands and themed skins for weapons are already planned.

The work of selecting players in matches and fighting cheaters has not been forgotten. The developers plan to provide a more balanced competitive game for users in all modes, and will involve a neural network in identifying cheaters. We plan to report progress on this issue in the future.

Within a year, the game will move to Unreal Engine 5 and will receive support for custom mods so that players can create their own maps and various items.
