Update 6.5 for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will be released in two parts — Details, trailer, and release date – Final Fantasy XIV

In the 79th live broadcast of Letter from the Producer Live, the director and producer of the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida, along with the global community manager, Toshio Murouchi, shared details about the upcoming update 6.5. Firstly, it was revealed that the first part of the patch will be released on October 3 and will introduce a new alliance raid, new main scenario quests, and various improvements. The second part is expected in mid-January 2024.

Patch 6.5 Trailer:

Major Changes:

  • As usual with updates of version X.5, patch 6.5 will be divided into two parts, including the main scenario quest. This will be the final update of the main storyline before the release of the Dawntrail expansion next summer.
  • The side quest “Tataru’s Grand Endeavor” will continue in patch 6.55.
  • Quests “Endwalker Tribal Alliance,” “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures,” and “Further Manderville Weapons” will be added in patch 6.55.
  • “Splendorous Tools” quests will be added in patch 6.51.
  • A new dungeon, “The Lunar Subterrane,” and a new trial, “The Abyssal Fracture” against Zeromus, will be introduced. The activity will also have an Extreme difficulty version.
  • The alliance raid series “Myths of the Realm” will conclude with the battle against Taleey. A new Unreal trial against Tordan will replace it.
  • A third dungeon, “Variant/Criterion,” named Aloalo Island, will be introduced. New rewards are being developed for the Savage mode, including those useful for item level advancement, in response to feedback.
  • The Duty Support feature will be expanded to include support for dungeons from the Stormblood expansion, such as The Drowned City of Skalla, The Burn, and The Ghimlyt Dark.
  • Balancing adjustments will be made for professions in PvE and PvP.
  • The fifth series of PvP will begin, along with changes to the Crystalline Conflict mode.
  • The Island Sanctuary will be updated with new ranks, visions, gathering spots, cultures, island items, animals, structures, and more. The Felicitous Favors feature will be introduced.
  • During the 6.5x patch series, a Fall Guys-themed crossover game will be introduced at the Manderville Gold Saucer location.

Other Changes:

  • Margrat will be added as a custom client delivery.
  • A new feature for gradual ether reduction for collectible items.
  • Indicators in the form of green dots on recently registered fish in the fishing log.
  • Ability to store additional items in the armoire.
  • An option to sort teleport destinations by expansion, which can be enabled in the teleport settings menu.
  • A new reward for obtaining all trial mounts in the 6.x series.
  • Changes in 6.5 aim to balance the damage dealt between professions within each role, increasing the power of certain abilities.

Zeromus Trial

Changes to the Crystalline Conflict Mode:

  1. UI Changes:
    • New settings allow for the constant display of the affiliated team to the left of the minimap and/or HUD.
    • A new line on the field indicates the “Return Point” or how far the losing team must advance to turn the tide of the match.
    • A new setting displays a ten-second countdown timer before overtime begins.
  2. Progress Indicator:
    • The progress indicator has been adjusted to show the leading team (flashing background) and display return points more prominently.
    • It also demonstrates progress in capturing control points and how long the losing team can stay away from the crystal until the end of the match.
  3. Visual Effects:
    • Effects for certain abilities, pets, and more have been adjusted to differentiate between allies and enemies. This will be implemented in patch 6.51.
  4. New Arena: The Red Sands (Patch 6.51):
    • The new map features unique elements, including a grassy area where players can restore health.
    • It includes return point UI elements and a more pronounced end-of-match element.
    • The heatwave mechanic serves as a debuff during matches in The Red Sands, with AOE hazards such as a vast pool of quicksand that can appear in the crystal’s tactical path.
    • Sabotenders emerge from the quicksand and do what they do best…

These updates aim to enhance the Crystalline Conflict experience with improved UI elements, clearer progression indicators, and dynamic gameplay elements in The Red Sands arena.

  • You can obtain new PvP rewards using the earned crystals.

Thaleia

  • Equipment obtained in Taleia.
  • New housing items and glamour sets.
  • New mounts and minions.

Announcements

  • The team is considering expanding its server infrastructure using cloud data centers. A cloud data center in North America will be temporarily implemented for conducting a public stress test during the 6.5x series. More detailed information will be available on the official website later.
  • The collaboration between Final Fantasy XIV and KFC will kick off on October 4th. By purchasing special dishes at stores across Japan, you’ll be able to receive stickers and an in-game emote, Eat Chicken.
  • A new tabletop role-playing game based on Final Fantasy XIV will be released in May 2024 as a starter set.
  • A fireworks display and musical show dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the game will take place at Chiba Makuhari Seaside Park. Pre-orders are currently available, with early purchases receiving a discount.
  • Notes on 6.5 will be published on October 2nd.
  • The next Final Fantasy XIV fan festival will take place in London, UK, from October 21st to 23rd. Tokyo’s turn will come on January 7th-8th, 2024.
  • The free trial version will expand in two weeks (6.5) and will include the Stormblood expansion and the ability to reach level 70.
